The Night Watchman

Insanity has many meanings but the one I like is about doing the same thing over and over again while expecting different results! The perfect example of this would be giving the government, any government, the authority to run some enterprise, any enterprise, and expecting it to be run well, efficiently, within budget and to produce a work product half as good as a company in the private sector could. It has never happened, it's not happening now and to expect it happen at any point in the future can be summed up in one word, Insanity! Now on to the short story: NIGHT WATCHMAN Once upon a time the government had a vast scrap yard in the middle of a desert.

Congress said, "Someone may steal from it at night.” So they created a night watchman position and hired a person for the job. Then Congress said, "How does the watchman do his job without instruction?” So they created a planning department and hired two people, one person to write the in...

One Nation Under Surveillance?

Just 15 years ago most of us were still getting most of our mail delivered by the USPS postman. Now it has become very rare even in the case of most bills. I have often wondered, if the equivalent of today’s mass surveillance had been going on 20 or even just 10 years ago… and people would find ALL their PERSONAL cards and letters had been copied, opened, read and stored by their “Protective government,” would they have responded with the same stoicism and indifference that seems to permeate today’s sheeple? I think here would have been a MIGHTY uproar! Yet because its “Digital” it doesn’t seem to register…GO FIGURE? Who wouldn’t be upset if they found strangers had been going to their personal stuff, searched through their file cabinets and drawers, read ALL their PRIVATE records and looked through their very personal (those not placed on Face Book) photo albums? Or would it be ok if people knew it had happened but the burglars left no traces and placed everything ...

Why Romney Realy Lost

Here is an article by a Jewish Rabbi from Teaneck, N.J. It is far and away the most succinct and thoughtful explanation of how our nation is changing. The article appeared in The Israel National News, and is directed to Jewish readership. 70% of American Jews vote as Democrats. The Rabbi has some interesting comments in that regard. Rabbi Steven Pruzansky is the spiritual leader of Congregation Bnai Yeshurun in Teaneck, New Jerse y. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "The most charitable way of explaining the election results of 2012 is that Americans voted for the status quo - for the incumbent President and for a divided Congress. They must enjoy gridlock, partisanship, incompetence, economic stagnation and avoidance of responsibility. And fewer people voted. But as we awake from the nightmare, it is important to eschew the facile explanations for the Romney defeat that will prevail among the chattering classes. Romney did not lose because of the effect...

Poor Legislation

"You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is the beginning of the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it." * Adrian Rogers, 1931 *

Is This Not Ironic?

Sometimes the left hand has no idea what the right hand does! The Food Stamp Program, administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, is actually proud of the fact it is distributing the greatest amount of free meals and food stamps ever. Meanwhile, the National Park Service, administered by the U.S. Department of the Interior, asks us to "Please Do Not Feed the Animals." Their stated reason for the policy is because the animals will grow dependent on handouts and will not learn to take care of themselves. "A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have." --Thomas Jefferson

Socialism gets an F

We are human after all, and being human, socialism will not work and this is why! An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before, but had recently failed an entire class. That class had insisted that socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer. The professor then said, "OK, we will have an experiment in this class on the “sharing the wealth plan". All grades will be averaged and everyone will receive the same grade so no one will fail and no one will receive an A.... (substituting grades for dollars - something closer to home and more readily understood by all). After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy. As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride ...

12 Warning Signs of Fascism

First you have to realize, not all fascists states exhibit all the signs of fascism. In many instances, they try to blend in with the existing rules and doctrines, until of course, they seize power. In the US, this usually happens with an Administration is installed that tries to radically change the US Constitution and limit individuals' rights in the name of caring for some made up miniority or oppressed people. In any case, if your country exhibits 8 or more of these, you are living in a fascist state.    1. Exuberant ideology Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of ideological images, slogans and symbols - New national flags are seen everywhere in public display. New aggression is explained to be mere destiny -- an unbidden greatness thrust upon the nation by history. It is this burden of unique responsibility that now raises the fascist state above all previous constraint, no longer bound by international obligations, treaties or law. 2. Enemies Identified This...

Money and Velocity

Almost 9 months ago the government pumped in $757 Billion, that is right Billion, into the economy, but for some reason, they still do not realize that what they did, though noble, was not the most effect way of stimulating the economy. Why? It is because they do not understand the power of money’s momentum. Essentially, the faster money flows, the stronger you economy. Why? Well, as money moves through the system, its “effect” in multiplied by the number of times it exchanges hands. This velocity of money actually makes it seem like there is more money in the system than there actually is, or that the multiplicative effect of the existing money is greater as the velocity increases. Back in school, I learned a few interesting equations about how velocity effects things. These include momentum, kinetic energy, and finally Einstein’s equation of relativity. To review these equations are: Momentum momentum = mass * velocity Kinetic Energy (KE) KE = ½ mv 2 ...

The Modest Proposal

When a company falls on difficult times, one of the things that seems to happen is they reduce their staff and workers. The remaining workers must find ways to continue to do a good job or risk that their job would be eliminated as well. Wall Street and the media normally congratulate the CEO for making this type of "tough decision," and his board of directors gives him a big bonus. Our government should not be immune from similar risks. Therefore: Reduce the House of Representatives from the current 435 members to 218 members. Reduce Senate members from 100 to 50 (one per State).   Then, reduce their staff by 25%. Accomplish this over the next 8 years`(two steps/two elections) and of course this would require some redistricting.   Some Yearly Monetary Gains Include: · $44,108,400 for elimination of base pay for congress. (267 members X $165,200 pay/member/ yr.) · $97,175,000 for elimination of their staff. (estimate $1.3 Million in staff per each member of the House, a...
