The 7 Cardinal Rules of Life

While I did not formulate these 7 cardinal rule of life, I have to agree with the essence of their wisdom. This is a good first step to self-love and finding true happiness, and I hope offers some guidance to those looking for a better life. My only hope is that you find them helpful in your quest to a better, more fulfilling, and accomplished life. 1. Make peace with your past, so it doesn’t spoil your present. Your past does not define your future – your actions and beliefs do. 2. What others think of you is none of your business. It’s how much you value yourself and how important you think you are. 3. Time heals almost everything, give time, time. Pain will be less hurting. Scars make us who we are; they explain our life and why we are the way we are. They challenge us and force us to be stronger. 4. No one is the reason for your own happiness, except you yourself. Waste no time and effort searching for peace and contentment and joy in the world outside. 5. Don’t compare yo...

The Business of Marriage (humor)

While I am a big fan of Marriage, sadly in our modern age, it has become more about entering into a business contract that the blissful relationship of love.  And, since many now see it as a business I thought I would list some marriage wisdom, so to speak.    +++++++++++ You can stay single and be miserable, or get married and wish you were dead. +++++++++++ At a cocktail party, one woman said to another, 'Aren't you wearing your wedding ring on the wrong finger?' 'Yes, I am. I married the wrong man.' +++++++++++ A lady inserted an ad in the classifieds: 'Husband Wanted'. Next day she received a hundred letters. They all said the same thing: 'You can have mine.' +++++++++++ When a woman steals your husband, there is no better revenge than to let her keep him. +++++++++++ A woman is incomplete until she is married. Then she is finished . +++++++++++ A little boy asked his father, 'Daddy, how much does it cost to get married?...

Creating a Great Start Up Culture

E very startup team has different ambitions. “ Get big fast ” is sometimes one of them: raise as much capital as possible so you can hire an army of engineers, marketing, sales and customer service people. This is a very short-term view on what it takes to build and grow a company. For some reason, people often think companies with a big team are more successful. But in reality, it’s not the quantity of people that matters, but the quality . The bigger a company gets and the faster a company grows, the bigger the risk that people start feeling “alienated” from the company. There is a risk people will start feeling like a cog in the wheel, and a lot of times that’s when people start looking for other opportunities where they feel appreciated, where they can build cool products that are a true expression of themselves and where they can make a difference. As Stephen Cohen, cofounder and Executive VP of Palantir Technologies, said correctly , people tend to hugely underestima...

15 Criterion for Hiring People

If you want to know the secret of hiring great people, use this list of criterion in differentiating the difference between happy people, and those who tend to be unhappy, and you will have success beyond your days. There are just 15 questions you need to ask. 1. LOVE vs. FEAR. People who are really happy, FEAR less and LOVE a lot more. They see each moment, each challenge, each person as an opportunity to discover more about themselves and the world around them. They understand the meaning of love, that it is a gift you give not something you try to hold on to, and just importantly, that you first love yourself before you can love others. “Fear less, hope more; whine less, breathe more; talk less, say more; hate less, love more; and all good things are yours.” --Swedish Proverb 2. ACCEPTANCE vs. RESISTANCE . Happy people understand that you cannot really change a situation by resisting it, but you can definitely change it by accepting that it is there and by understanding that th...

41 Quips On Life

In all our lives, we go through periods where a little advice might have come in really handy.  Sort of like a "cliff-notes" for getting by or little phrases that help us look at our situation differently.  Hopefully, these 41 quips help you in some way? 1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good 2. When in doubt, just take the next small step. 3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone. 4. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does. 5. Pay off your credit cards every month. 6. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree. 7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone. 8. It Costs Nothing but is Invaluable

It costs nothing, but creates much. It enriches those who receive, without impoverishing those who give. It happens in a flash and the memory of it sometimes lasts forever. None are so rich that they can get along without it, and none so poor but are richer for its benefits. It creates happiness in the home, fosters good will in business, and is the countersign of friends. It is a rest for the weary, daylight for the discouraged, sunshine for the oppressed, and Nature’s best antidote for trouble. It cannot be bought, begged, borrowed, stolen, or coerced for it has no earthly good to anybody until it is given away. And if you should meet someone who is too tired to give you one, can you please leave one of yours? For no one needs it as much as those who have none to give. Smile!
